Look out for bears…..the bear population is making resurgence in the South.  Bears were once common throughout most of the state of Georgia and that could become the case again as more and more bears are being forced out of areas such as the mountains of North Carolina and Northeast Tennessee.   Earlier this year a young black bear was killed when a car struck it on Highway 27 in the Tidings Community in Chattooga County.  Last Friday a Michigan man struck and killed a black bear on I-75 near the Catoosa – Whitfield County line.  Another bear was reportedly killed in Catoosa County recently. Biologist say that black bears habitats are expanding throughout the North Georgia area and residents can expect to see more bear sightings as the bear population grows.
