Georgia Agriculture Commissioner Tommy Irvin alerts consumers to a beer batter mix that is being recalled because it has a crushed pepper ingredient that may be contamination with Salmonella.
Bass Pro Shops, Springfield, MO, is recalling one lot of Uncle Buck’s Beer Batter Mix Lightly-Seasoned because it has a black pepper ingredient — manufactured by the Mincing Overseas Spice Company — that may be contaminated with Salmonella.
Salmonella can sometimes cause serious or fatal infections in the very young, the elderly, the frail and those with weakened immune systems.
The 20-ounce packaged product is in a yellow canister with the product label and code date located on the bottom of the container. The recalled product has the UPC 3 35489 38177 and the code w9308k. No other Uncle Buck’s products are affected by this recall.
The product was distributed nationwide at Bass Pro Shops stores, on basspro.com and at select retailers. The company requests that consumers with the product destroy it or return it to the nearest store for a full refund. Those with questions should call (417) 873-5022 during regular business hours or call (417) 689-1118 during the evenings or on weekends.
