Lamar Canada, director of Chattooga County Public Works told AM 1180 Chattooga Radio News that the Berryton Bridge was re-opened Friday afternoon at 5:30 PM.  The opening of the bridge will bring increased traffic in the area. Some residents in the area of the new bridge expressed concerns about the increased traffic on Filter Plant Road and Back Berryton Road.  Lamar Canada told AM 1180 Chattooga Radio News that the county would be installing some new speed limit signs on the roads and that they would contact the Georgia State Patrol for increased patrols in the area.  The Chattooga County Sheriff’s Department has also stated they will be increasing their patrols in the area to be sure speed limits are enforced.
