Residents of Georgia are being warned about “fake” census takers.  Census workers are already going door to door, gathering information that will be used in the 2010 census.  But along with the legitimate census takers there are some scam artists that are preying on Georgia’s citizens, especially the elderly.

A census taker’s job is to get an accurate count of people and find out about ethnic background.  They will never ask you for your personal information, such as your social security number, and will always have badges and identification.

If you suspect a “fake” census taker…report them to the Chattooga County Sheriffs Department at 706-857-3431.
