In an effort to boost the critical blood shortage facing the community, Blood Assurance announces extended hours for locations throughout the service region.

Officials hope the new temporary hours will offer more flexibility to blood donors and in turn, increase blood donations to the community’s only regional blood center.

Blood Assurance is responsible for providing blood products to all hospitals and healthcare facilities in the region. Volunteer blood donations, not paid blood collections, are the only source of blood for patients in local hospitals.

The temporary hours will last throughout the month of January.

“We want to address the current shortage in supply through this temporary measure,” said Rick Youngblood, President and CEO of Blood Assurance.
