The Chattooga County Board of Education will hold thier regular monthly meeting coming up this evening at 7 PM at the Educaton Center located at the old Pennville School.

The Board of Education continues to look at ways to make up a massive budget shortfall in the county.  Scheduled to be on the agenda for this evening’s meeting will be a speaker urging the board not to cut the high school chorus teaching position, which is just one of several Reduction in Force (RIF) positions that the Board is considering cutting.

Other positions set to be eliminated are two Bridge teachers at Summerville Middle School, a family and consumer science teacher at the high school and two teachers and a principal from the system’s alternative school, called Crossroads Academy. According to the BOE meeting agenda, a part-time principal would be hired for Crossroads 

The meeting will be open to the public.
