The Chattooga County Board of Education held a work session Monday night at the County Board of Education office. Superintendent, Dr. Dwight Pullen opened the meeting by recognizing the board members and presenting them a certificate for completing School Board Member training. He congratulated them and thanked them for their dedication and service to the Board of Education.

There were several items on the agenda that were covered in the meeting. Under Financial Management there were 14 invoices that the Board considered for approval from various projects that are currently being completed within Chattooga County Schools. Also, the Board considered architect’s field reports regarding upgrades at Lyerly Elementary School. The Board considered recommendation for review of the 2007-2008 School Council Reports from all schools. Under Personnel the Board considered several recommendations for certified and classified employees and substitutes.

Deborah Williams, Personnell Directior, reported that 33 new staff members have been hired by the Chattooga County School System to fill positions for this school year. These positions include custodians, paraprofessionals, teachers and administrators.

A regular meeting of the Board will be held next Monday, August 11, at the Board of Education Office. The public is invited to attend.
