The trial of a Chattooga County man accused of murder will begin today in Chattooga County Superior Court in Summerville. Michael Bright is accused of murdering Richard Shawn Harris on October 9th in 2007. Bright is alleged to have driven by the home of Harris and firing a small caliber hand gun killing Harris. According to reports at the time, there were several people who witnessed the shooting incident. Bright’s former attorney told local media that the accused man was acting in self-defense. Michael Bright will be represented in court by Summerville Attorney Albert Palmour. District Attorney Herbert “Buzz” Franklin will be trying the case.
