Residents of Chattooga County have an extension of the time to burn vegitation according to the Georgia EPD.  Chattooga County Commissioner Jason Winters had requested the postponment of the burn ban from the Georgia EPD due to the huge amount of trees and limbs in the Cloudland and Teloga area from the EF1 Tornado that ripped through the area over last weekend.

In a letter to Chattooga County Commissioner Jason Winters the Georgia EPD explained that is was a highly unusual move for the EPD to grant an extension of the burning allowed time, but that they would grant a 16 day reprieve for Chattooga County Residents.  Residents will still have to get a burn permit and only vegitation can be burned – no household garbage or household debris.
