The last week was busy for local law enforcement with three high-profile cases in the news.  On Monday of last week a 14 year old girl was jogging near her home north of Trion when two men attempted to abduct and rape the minor.  The Chattooga County Sheriff’s department is still on the lookout for the two suspects who were driving a late model, silver Ford Expedition with Georgia tags.  Anyone with information should call the Sheriff’s Department or Chattooga County 911.

On Tuesday of last week Chattooga County Investigator Kandy Dodd arrested a Summerville man for feticide after punching his estranged – pregnant wife to have a miscarriage.  Twenty three year old Shave Evans of Summerville was subsequently arrested on Roberts Street and booked into the Chattooga County Jail on charges of feticide and battery.

Then on Wednesday of last week Chattooga County Sheriff’s investigators along with agents from the Georgia Insurance Commissioners Office arrest two county residents and charged them with 92 felony counts including forgery.  47 year old Sandra Weaver and 29 year old William Benefield, owners of Qenkore Construction were booked into the Chattooga County jail.  The two maintain their innocence, but Georgia Insurance Commissioner John Oxendine does not agree and continues his investigation into the Chattooga County company.
