The deadline for qualified home school seniors to apply for the Robert C. Byrd Honors Scholarship has been extended to April 1. The extension is due to changes in the program that were part of the Higher Education Opportunity Act, that was enacted in 2008.
The Byrd Scholarship provides scholarship money for post-secondary education to high-achieving seniors in public, private or home school programs, as well as students who hold a General Educational Development (GED) Certificate.
The deadline for private, public or GED students to apply for the scholarship has passed. However, for this year only, home school students can apply until April 1, 2009. Next year, the deadline for all students will be February 1, 2010.
