The atmosphere at Calhoun’s Phil Reeve Stadium is getting an upgrade.
Crews are currently working to install artificial turf at the longtime home of the Calhoun Yellow Jackets, making it the first high school football field in Northwest Georgia to make the move.
With the old sod already removed and the drains nearly complete, according to Calhoun Head Football Coach Hal Lamb the first layers of carpeting would be laid on in the next few days.
After researching the possibility of putting a synthetic playing surface on the field for over a year, the decision was made to go with AstroTurf, the company most associated with artificial turf and based out of Dalton.
