Calhoun man convicted of possessing child pornography in July is set to be sentenced in U.S. District Court in Rome on Sept. 25.

Ricky Lee McDaniel was convicted of possessing more than 1,200 images of child pornography and four videos in his home.

He was originally arrested at his home in Calhoun in August 2003, but the indictment was dropped in lieu of the government’s ability to examine computer evidence stored on McDaniel’s computer hard drives.

He was reindicted on the same charges in 2008.

The state characterized McDaniel as a recluse, but he testified that he was not the only person with full access to his computer and did not know the disks contained child pornography.

A jury found McDaniel guilty after 90 minutes of deliberation.
