The Chattooga County Republican Party will have a special speaker for this month’s regular monthly meeting which will be held Saturday morning at 8 AM at Pop’s in Summerville.  Republican gubenetorial candidate, and by most accounts the front-runner for the Republican nomination, John Oxendine will be on hand to address local Republicans.

Chattooga County Republican Party Chairman Brad Hayes told AM 1180 that the meeting is open to the public and will include a question and answer session.

Oxendine is expected to be one of two candidates to be in a run-off after the Republican Party primary in July.  Oxendine serves as Georgia’s Insurance Commissioner and has won state-wide elections consistently since being elected to the post in 1994.  There are seven Republicans going after the state’s top job which means there will most likely be a run-off election between the top two vote getters in the Republican Primary.

This is Oxendine’s second trip to Chattooga County since announcing his bid for governor.  Earlier this year the Insurance Commissioner addressed the Chattooga County Chamber of Commerce.
