All four of the candidates in next weeks run-off election that are seeking local office along with the registrar and local media met in Chattooga County Election Superentindent Jon Payne’s office on Friday morning to discuss the upcoming election.  Judge Payne said that early voting had been goin well and that 214 Absentee Ballots had been sent out as of Tuesday evening July 29th.  21 more ballots have been issued since Tuesday.  Voters have until 5 PM today to request an absentee ballot.  Those ballots must be back to the registrars office by 5 PM August 5th.

There was some discussion about trying to get more time to count absentee votes, but in the end Judge Payne and County Attorney Chris Corbin made the decision not to file any motion with the court to extend the vote counting period.

Remember, if you wish to have your absentee ballot counted, be sure it is back to the registrars office by 5 PM August 5th.
