After first saying that taxes would be going up in Catoosa County, the counties commissioners voted not to raise taxes when they adopted a budget on Tuesday morning in Ringgold.  Originally the taxes were to have gone up $9 for every $1,000 worth of property in Catoosa County.
Instead the commissioners in Catoosa County cut money from the sheriff’s department, road and recreation departments and transfered $300,000 from a "rainy day" fund.
Catoosa County Sheriff Phil Summers said that he was dissapointed in the way the commissioners went about the budget cuts.  Both the Sheriff in Catoosa County and the Commissioners admitted that things might be worse next year.
