The Catoosa County School Board met earlier this week and heard an ear-full from local residents concerned with the board’s ban of banners with Bible verses that were being displayed at Lakeview-Ft.Oglethorpe football games by the school’s cheerleaders.

Board members told a standing room only crowd that the school board was not banning Bible verses from the stands or anywhere else, but that the cheerleader’s banners indicated the support of the school system which could be seen as a violation of the first amendment, according to the board.

LFO cheerleaders have for many years prepared banners with Bible verses to use before the school’s football games.  Local residents told school board members that they had a choice to choose between what the community wants and what will "ultimately be the ACLU."
