The Cedar Bluff, Alabama City Council met yesterday for the express purpose of choosing a mayor pro-tem to act while the current mayor, Martha Baker, recovers from surgery.

The city council members were unable to agree among themselves on who should serve as mayor pro-tem.  Council Member Joan May nominated Billie Burkhalter to serve as mayor pro-tem but that motion did not receive a second.  Then council member Ethel Sprouce said that she would be willing to serve, but could not receive a nomination.

Sprouse is involved in a court case over the last mayor’s race in Cedar Bluff with Jimmy Wallace.

Since the council members couldn’t make a decision on who should serve as mayor pro-tem the meeting was adjourned with no one being selected.
