Cell Phone Tax Hearing This Tuesday  Commissioner Jason Winters has announced a public hearing on a proposed tax on cell phones in Chattooga County.  According to the commissioner, the tax would be $1.50 per cell phone line for Chattooga County residents.  Winters told AM 1180 Chattooga County Radio that the tax on cell phones would bring in thousands of dollars in needed revenue for Chattooga County’s 911 system.  Currently, landline telephone users already pay the 911 tax.  With many residents doing away with their landlines and using cell phones exclusively, Winters feels the time is right for a cell phone tax in the county.  In neighboring Walker and Floyd Counties, residents already pay the $1.50 per month cell phone tax for their 911 systems.
