AM 1180 Chattooga County Radio told you several weeks ago about a cell phone tax proposal by Chattooga County Commissioner Jason Winters.  If you would like to have an input on the proposed $1.50 per month tax you can attend a public hearing this coming Tuesday at 10 AM.

Commissioner Winters said that the proposed tax would bring in thousands of needed dollars for the county’s 911 system.  Currently only landline owners have to pay the 911 tax in Chattooga County.  In both Walker and Floyd Counties cell phone customers already pay the additional tax.  With a growing number of telephone customers doing away with their land lines and using only cell phones, Winters said the tax in needed.
