The Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office has arrested a Centre man who they believe conspired to have a local business burned.
Arrested, according to Cherokee County Sheriff Jeff Shaver, was Jeff Thomas Jordan, 63, 205 Jordan Drive, who was charged with solicitation to commit arson in the second degree and conspiracy to commit arson in the second degree, both Class C felonies.
According to Shaver, the sheriff’s office recently received information that a person was conspiring to have a local business in Centre burned. Investigators with the sheriff’s Office contacted Centre Fire Chief Kevin Ware who is a certified law enforcement officer and fire and arson investigator. State Fire Marshal Tommy Wiggonton was also contacted to assist with the investigation. Officers conducted an investigation that culminated with the arrest of Jordan who is currently lodged in Cherokee County Detention Center.
More than $3,000 in cash and a 2008 Chevrolet Pickup were seized at the time of Jordan’s arrest. Officers arrested Jordan without incident in a traffic stop, Shaver said.
