Changes will soon be coming to the School Lunch Program, under the Child Nutrition Act.

According to information recently released by the Department of Agriculture & the School Nutrition Association, all school lunches will soon feature more fresh fruits & vegetables in addition to additional whole grains – while meals will also consist of lower sodium amounts.

This is the first major nutritional overhaul of the school lunch system in more than 15 years.

Nutritionists say the change has been a long time coming – especially since children receive one-third of their daily calories at school.
