After a two hour delay due to lightning and rain the Chattooga Indians and the Trion Bulldogs had their chance to battle on the field last night. The hometown rivals met for the first time since 1971 last night in a scrimmage type game. According to THS principal Chuck Taylor nearly 4,000 fans packed Sam R. McCain Stadium. No official score was kept in the game. However, Chattooga’s Olajuwan Blair ran the opening kickoff from Trion’s Craig Caron 89 yards into the end zone. Chattooga quarterback Rashad Ramsey tried to run in the two-point conversion but was stopped short of the goal line. Trion fumbled the ball twice in the first half and lost both to the Indians but Chattooga never capitalized on either opportunity. Chattooga opens the season next Friday as they take on Darlington at Darlington. Trion travels to Armuchee to play the Indians in the opening game of the regular season.
