The Chattooga County School Board has received notification that it is in compliance with the Georgia School Boards Association’s “Standards for Local Boards of Education.”

The Chattooga Board of Education was one of only eight in the state, which are Standards boards for 2008-2010. These boards must re-certify by December 2010.

“The achievement was earned by voluntarily participating in the process,” Jeannie M. “Sis” Henry, Executive director of the GSBA said in a letter to the system. “Your board in sending a clear message to the community and to students and school system employees that it is serious about achievement at all levels.”

As part of the process, the superintendent and school board made the commitment to examine the board’s practices and policies.

The Chattooga School Board is currently working toward being a Board of Distinction.
