The new 2009 Budget that current Commissioner Mike Dawson is proposing for the upcoming year is counting on an extra $86,427 in sales taxes.  Despite the recession and the fact that the county has had a shortfall this year in sales tax revenues.  The budget numbers are based on historical data from previous years.  Around the state of Georgia many municipalities, counties and even the state government are seeing a shortfall in their tax collections this year.

The overall county budget for 2009 has increased by about  1%.  Sales tax collections for this year are close to 2% less than what was budgeted for 2008.

A public review of the county budget will be held this Friday in the courthouse annex at 10 AM.  The public is invited to attend.
