Chattooga County voters elected a new sheriff in yesterdays Democratic Primary Run – Off Election.  Trion native John Everett, who quit his job as a Georgia State Trooper to run for sheriff, was elected with about 58% of the vote ousting incumbent Sheriff Ralph Kellett who received around 42% of the vote.  Kellett had served as sheriff of Chattooga County for 17 years.

Everett carried all of the precincts in the county except Haywood where the incumbent Sheriff won by one vote.  Sheriff Kellett also carried the absentee ballots.
