The Chattooga Indians lost their contest with Calhoun in Friday nights football matchup. Chattooga (3-3, 0-2) got on the board with a field goal when kicker Bernardo Mosqueda nailed a 25-yarder with less than two minutes to go in the first quarter.

Chattooga took the ball in for the first time in the second quarter and slowly started working their way down the field. The  Calhoun Yellowjackets stopped a Chattooga drive when Josh White recovered an Indian fumble at the 39-yard line.

The Jackets then worked their way down the field only to return the ball back to Chattooga on a fumble by Aker. Nic Perry recovered the ball.  Chattooga went four-and-out, and a really short punt gave Calhoun excellent field position at the Chattooga 16 yard line.

After a 10 yard pass from Johnson to Ramsey and an Indian penalty, Daniel McArthur pushed the ball across the line on his second attempt for the touchdown. Griffith hit the PAT.  The Indians looked to threaten late in the second quarter after Jared Nelson hit Spencer London with a 40 yard pass to the 10 yard line.

The Jackets looked to score six early in the third quarter from the Indian one yard line but a costly holding penalty and two plays for a loss put Calhoun at fourth-and-23. Griffith attempted the 33-yard field goal but the kick sailed just wide of the left post.

The final quarter featured both offenses going in the opposite directions due to penalties and loss of yardage plays.

Chattooga will be hosting Adairsville next Friday.  The Trion Bulldogs were off last night, next week they will face off with Bowdon at Sam R. McCain Stadium in a game that will broadcast on AM 1180 Chattooga County Radio.
