Chattooga County EMA Director Eddie Henderson, along with Public Works Director Lamar Canada and other county officials have met with the National Weather Service this (Saturday) afternoon about the approaching winter weather.

Henderson said that not a lot has changed since last evening.  The National Weather Service in Peachtree City says that the winter storm will enter Georgia between 7 PM and midnight on Sunday as snow.  Temperatures are forecasted to be in the mid to upper 20’s at this time – which means Chattooga County should see mainly snow from the event.

Henderson said, "We are looking for 5 – 7 inches of snow as this will be a mostly snow event for Chattooga County. We are under a winter storm watch at present but this will change to a winter storm warning on Sunday."

Public Works Director Lamar Canada advises all County Public Works equipment is ready in addition to standby equipment if needed. County crews will be working roads as necessary. Personnel are presently on standby and will be called in early as the event requires.
