Numbers released on Teusday from the U.S. Department of Commerce’s Bureau of Economic Analysis shows that the two counties in the Northwest Georgia area with the highest and lowest per capita income are side by side.
Floyd County ranked highest in per capita income and according to the data, Chattooga County ranked lowest in Northwest Georgia. The per capita income in Floyd County is at $32,032 making it the 27th highest in the state.
Chattooga County’s per capita income is at $21,829 which makes it 152nd out of 159 counties in Georgia. The numers are based on incomes from 2006-2008. While Chattooga County did rank lower than other counties in the area, the per capita income did come up a little over $700 from 2006-2008.
