Chattooga County’s new school superintendent Jimmy Lenderman spoke with AM 1180 on Monday morning about his vision for the Chattooga County School System. Lenderman said that the Board of Education hired him with a one year contract and that they agreed, per his request, to pay him the minimum salary allowed by state law. Lenderman said the superintendent’s salary will save the school system $50,000 a year over the previous superintendent’s salary. Lenderman also said that he would be driving his own vehicle and paying for his own gas.
Lenderman outlined his vision for the school system talking about discipline for students and providing a culture where teachers and staff are comfortable speaking out about issues and changes that they see need to be made. Lenderman said, "I want our system to be one where our employees feel comfortable and encouraged to express their concerns, opinions, suggestions or grievances without any fear of retaliation."
You can hear a re-broadcast of the interview with Mr. Lenderman Monday afternoon following the trading post program and again on Tuesday evening at 5:20 PM following the local news.
