The Georgia Department of Labor issued figures for the latest unemployment numbers from the month of April this week.  According to the latest numbers, Chattooga County had about a 8% increase in intial jobless claims for the month of April.

That percentage represents only a net loss of only 9 jobs in the county.  Chattooga County’s relatively small number of eligible workers causes the unemployment rate to change with only a small number of inital unemployment claims.

There were 114 Chattooga County residents who filed intial unemployment claims in April of 2010, the exact number there were in April of 2009.
