Preliminary estimates are now available from the US Census Bureau regarding the population change in Chattooga County.  The latest number show that Chattooga County has grown by an estimated 4.5% in the past ten years.  That compares to a 20.1% increase in the population in the State of Georgia over the past decade.

The US Census Bureau reports an estimated increase in population numbers for people 65 and older in Chattooga County was 14.7% over the past ten years – compared to 10.1% statewide.  Also, the number of children under 18 years of age increased by 22.4% compared to 26.3% statewide, based on estimates from 2008.
