According to the latest numbers from the Georgia Department of Labor the unemployment rate in Chattooga County dropped in August.  Chattooga County has dropped below a 12% unemployment rate for the first time in several months and the rate now stands at 11.9%. The Georgia Department of Labor numbers indicated that the unemployment rate is falling throughout the state, but it’s not necessarily good news.  Many people are running out of unemployment benefits and are giving up on their job search and some are just leaving the work-force altogether.
