A car theft ring has been busted in Polk County. Among those arrested is Sergeant Mark Sparks, who had been head of the Criminal Investigations Unit for Polk County Police. Police Chief Kenny Dodd says this investigation began in early 2008.

This includes two former deputies, Michael Robinson and Kenneth Gravett, who had at a previous time been employed with the Polk County Sheriff’s Office. CHief Dodd thanks the County Board of Commissioners for their support in the case.

Also arrested, along were operators of body shops in Cedartown and Rockmart including John Summerville, Senior and Marvin Cheatwood. They have been charged with receiving stolen property and warrants have been issued for Jerry Haney.

Also arrested in shutting down the operation were Bradley Miller, Margie Fields and Alan Camp. Chief Dodd says numerous agencies helped make these arrests possible. Chief Dodd says 14-search warrants were executed simultaneously in Polk and Floyd Counties and more arrests related to the case are possible.
