The Georgia State Patrol has released its Christmas Holiday Traffic Count. The GSP listed 280 crashes, 169 injuries and 1 death. For all agencies over the state, four deaths were reported. Overall, the number of acidents were down from 2010 with the GSP reporting 351 crashes, 280 injuries, but 3 deaths. New Years will begin at 6 pm Friday, December 30 and will last until Midnight, Monday, January 2, 2012.

The traffic count includes the total number of crashes, injuries and fatalities reported by the Georgia State Patrol posts. The number of fatalities listed from all agencies includes all GSP posts, sheriffs` offices and police departments in Georgia.

The 2011 CHRISTMAS HOLIDAY PERIOD, which lasted for 78 hours went from 6 p.m. Friday, December 23 until midnight Monday, December 26.

Last New Years the GSP recorded 320 crashes, 270 injuries and 7 deaths.
