The Rome-Floyd Planning Commission has recommended that Floyd County commissioners deny a request for a new electricity substation at the intersection of Highway 156 and Haywood Valley Rd. in northern Floyd County. The North Georgia Electric Membership Co-Operative would like to build the substation to accommodate growth in the north Floyd community. However, citizens in the area objected to the proposed site and said it would have a negative impact on the beauty of the area.
