Gore firefighters were on a call yesterday evening and experienced problems when GFD Engine 3 experienced a violent blowout on a front tire that affected the front steering axel. According to reports, the fire truck broke down on Little Sand Mountain Road while responding to a fire call on Dry Creek Road which, as it turned out, was cancelled.
Flood’s Wrecker Service from Summerville was called to tow the disabled truck, but was unable to because of mechanical problems with their wrecker. Gore firefighters worked until 3am on Little Sand Mountain Road changing tires using equipment borrowed from Triple J Logging in order to remove the firetruck from the roadway. At no time was public safety put to risk.
Gore Fire Department will continue to provide emergency services with the 3 remaining fire apparatus until Engine 3 can be returned to service.
