Chattooga County residents in Cloudland and Teloga have been cleaning up all week from the damage left by an EF1 Tornado that ripped through the county last Sunday morning shortly after mid-night.

Chattooga County Public Works Director Lamar Canada said that all roads were open and passible despite large amounts of downed trees earlier in the week.  Work crews have been busy removing trees and limbs from some of the hardest hit areas.

Commissioner Jason Winters told AM 1180 that he plans to set up two remote chipper sites in the county – one at Cloudland and one in Teloga – to help residents with getting debris removed from their property.

Also this week the Georgia EPD responded to a request by the Commissioner to grant an delay in the burn ban for Chattooga County.  Residents may request a burn permit through May 16th in order to burn vegitation only.
