Volunteers gathered at Paradise Gardens in Pennville this past week to hold a "Places in Peril" clean-up day at the home of the late Rev. Howard Finster. Paradise Gardens was designated as on of several "Places in Peril" this year by the Georgia Trust for Historic Preservation – a statewide organization that identifies places of historic significance.
Voluteers uncovered a mosaic side-walk during the clean-up day last week. The workers uncovered the side-walk made up of concrete and marbles with the phrase "Don’t forget to Pray" formed into the mosaic.
Around 30 volunteers showed up last week for the clean-up day at Paradise Gardens in Pennville. Earlier this year, Chattooga County Commissioner Jason Winters announced that the county was seeking a grant to purchase Paradise Gardens which will allow the non-profit ogranization that oversees the property to apply for more grants to restore and upkeep the property.
