Chattooga County Commissioner Mike Dawson is questioning the payroll of the Chattooga County Sheriffs Department. The department turned in a payroll that totaled $53,271.69 in vacation and comp time. The Sheriffs Department is turning in the hours for a large amount of comp time and vacation time because some employees won’t have a job after the first of the year. Incoming Sheriff John Everett sent letters to 11 employees earlier this year saying that those workers would not have jobs as of January 1st. Commissioner Dawson has asked a local accountent to audit the payroll of the Sheriffs Department before the county pays any of the vacation and comp time.
