Chattooga County Commissioner Jason Winters held his monthly meeting yesterday afternoon at the Commissioner’s Office on Commerce Street in Summerville.

Winters said that he had signed an agreement with the Appalachian Regional Commission to implement a grant to provide funding to acquire the Howard Finster Paradise Gardens Property.  Commissioner Winters has said that if the grant money was available to purchase the property, the county would do so and then lease it back to the current care takers of the property.  This will allow them more opportunities for grant funding in the future.

Also at last night’s meeting the commissioner discussed actions taken by his office including:

*  Signed an agreement with James Jackson III for lease of the old Jackson Drug Store Building

*  Signed an agreement with Sills Ventures LLC, for the purpose of conducting business research services

*  Signed an agreement with the Georgia Department of Corrections for three inmate details

*  Signed an agreement for a loan from Drinking Water State Revolving Fund to finance a portion of the Chattooga County Water Project

*  Singed a lease with Subligna Community Center for lease of the old Subligna Gymnasium for one year

AM 1180 will broadcast the commissioner’s meeting coming up on Saturday at 10:20 AM and again on Sunday afternoon at 5:20 PM.
