Last week AM 1180 announced that Chattooga County had received pre-approval for a grant for the purchase of the Rev. Howard Finister’s Paradise Gardens in Pennville from the Appalachian Regional Commission.
Commissioner Jason Winters was questioned about the decision to make the purchase at the last County Commissioner’s meeting in February. Some residents are questioning the wisdom of purchasing the property that has fell into disrepair over the years. There are questions about where any addittional purchase money will come from and who would provide the upkeep for the property.
Commissioner Winters told AM 1180 on Thursday that final word from the Appalachian Regional Commission will come sometime in June or July. Winters said that he is developing a long term plan for the sight and that plan should be available by the first of next week.
Commissioner Winters has agreed to come on AM 1180’s NEWSMAKER interview program next Wednesday, March 10th to discuss the Finster Property Purchase. If you have questions that you would like to ask the commissioner you can e-mail AM 1180 at firstname.lastname@example.org
