AM 1180 Chattooga County Radio reported earlier this week on a "computer" fire in the Oak Hill – Alpine area.  We reported in error that the call was responded to by the Lyerly Fire Department.  Instead the Menlo Fire Department had responded to the call.

AM 1180 spoke with a member of the Menlo Fire Department on Wednesday that said the fire started in a child’s electronic game.  The game was identified as a "Leap Frog" game and according to the child and the child’s parents the game was not plugged in, nor were there any batteries in the game when it began to burn.  When firefighters arrived the game was laying in the yard.

According to the manufacuter’s web site that makes the game their have been items recalled due to safety issues, however it does not appear that the game that caused the problem earlier this week in Chattooga County has ever been subject to a recall by the company.

AM 1180 will continue to follow this story and bring you updates as they become available.
