As the holiday season approaches, con artists and scam operators consider it more a case of Open Season, as they attempt to take advantage of the good will of others during their busiest time of year. First and foremost, never EVER give out any personal information over the telephone to anyone.

Remember, legitimate businesses such as banks; insurance, credit card and other companies which utilize private, personal information, will already have that information on hand. Scams can cover an incredible array of come-on’s – with those callers falsely claiming to represent everything from law enforcement agencies, to charitable organizations, seeking donations.

Reputable organizations do not conduct business in such a matter. No matter what the angle, if someone calls you and asks for personal information hang up the phone and report the incident to your local law enforcement agency
