Congressman Phil Gingrey a Republican who represents the Northwestern portion of Georgia in the 11th congressional district in Congress was in Summerville yesterday, hosting a town hall meeting on health – care.

A large crowd turned out to hear the Congressman discuss health care and the current bills that are making their way through congress concerning health – care reform.  The congressman said that he thinks the town hall meetings are good to inform the public about the political process as it relates to health care reform. 

Gingrey is a medical doctor and a critic of  President Obama’s push for health care reform.  Gingrey was introduced by Chattooga County Commissioner Jason Winters, a Democrat, who said that he was "proud to have Congressman Gingrey representing us to help make the right decision regarding health care."

Gingrey fielded questions from the audience made up of a cross-section of citizens from Chattooga County including local school students.
