With just a little over 15,000 in all of Dade County, Georgia’s most northwestern county does not have a high violent crime rate. In fact the first murder trial in several years was held last week at the Dade County Courthouse in Trenton.
A Dade County jury found a 19 year old man guilty of murder charges last week. Johnathan Ellison was convicted in the stabbing death of a drug dealer at his home back in March of this year. An accomplice in the murder will be tried next year. Ellison was convicted of stabbing 35 year old Antwane Hyatte. Hyatte had delivered marijuana and ecstasy to the Ellison and his accomplice. The two had planned to rob the drug dealer according to prosecutors.
Hyatte was stabbed 16 times during the robbery and murder.
