Former Coosa High School Coach Scott Swantic resigned Friday morning, following his arrest on Tuesday, March 2, for his alleged involvement in a drug deal with student. “He will not be returning to Coosa High School for the remainder of the school year,” Floyd County assistant superintendent Bob Puckett said today. The superintendent will make a recommendation to the school board to accept Swantic’s resignation during the next school board meeting, April 6. “We hold all our employees to the highest standard,” said Puckett. “If he had not resigned we would have continued our investigation, but it’s basically subordinate to the police investigation. It’s beyond our hands now. The police made the arrest and they will decide whether the case is strong enough to prosecute.”
