The merger of Coosa Valley Tech and Northwestern Tech in Rock Spring is going forward according to Coosa Valley Tech President Chris McDaniel.  McDaniel is slated to be the President of the combined colleges.

McDaniel said that talk of stopping the merger is only rumors.  McDaniel also addressed those Northwestern employees who have criticized the merger.  He told the Walker County Messenger: "But you must realize that when any boss says this is the way a company is going, you are expected to move in that direction with the company. If you feel you can’t, then it is up to you to decide what you can live with.”

Critics of the plan fear that services will be cut at Northwestern and that Coosa Valley will overshadow the Walker County school.
