Chattooga County Commissioner Mike Dawson and County Clerk Martha Tucker explained the increase in tax revenue projected in the 2009 County Budget at the Commissioner’s hearing on the budget this past Friday.

The county is showing an increase in revenue, but that revenue is coming from the SPLOST Fund not a projected increase in sales taxes.  Previously it had been reported that the county was showing an increase in revenue and it was assumed the county was counting on more sales tax money.  According to the Commissioner the county has actually cut the projected revenue for sales tax revenue by $100,000 and has increase SPLOST revenue by $942,250.
