After it appeared that Chattooga County’s sales tax numbers for May were going to be very dismal, there bas been some improvement in those figures.  The Georgia Department of Revenue has changed the way they distribute money to the counties in the state which is the reason for the improvement. Originally it appeared that the county would see around a $65,000 shortfall in sales tax revenue, however after the county received a second sales tax distribution check for the month of May that number was cut to around a $48,000 deficit in sales tax revenues. To date Chattooga County has receive $1,151,021.92 in sales tax revenue from the Georgia Department of Revenue.
